About Us
CT Marine is an international naval architecture & marine engineering firm specializing in both shallow draft workboats & ocean-going ATB’s. CT Marine was started in 1978 by Corning Townsend III following years of apprenticeship with Clancy Horton & over a decade of hydrodynamic research at the model basins of the University of Michigan & Marin in the Netherlands.
Christian Townsend followed his father thirty-five years ago & together have nearly ninety years of experience refining modern ship design. CT Marine uses many internal patents which elevated our designs to some of the most respected in the world. With over two thousand projects in our portfolio, we have designed every towboat in the United States over 6.600 BHP since 1988, dozens of ATB’s sailing and hundreds of vessels operating 24/7 on the inland waterway system accumulating 50,000,000 hours of proven engineering, safety & design.
In order to increase the depth of our services, CT Marine partnered with Buoyancy Consultants in 2015 forming Hyperion Marine Group. Headquartered in the United States with offices in Goa, India with offices in Europe, Singapore & the Middle East we now have a team of over one hundred navel architects and marine engineers.
